At the Colby College Museum of Art, education is the heartbeat of our mission. We believe that art is not just something to be observed, but a powerful tool for inquiry, empathy, and discovery. As a premier cultural destination in Maine, the museum serves as a vital bridge between the academic rigor of Mayflower Hill and the vibrant communities across our state.

The museum is an essential extension of the Colby classroom. Each year, more than 100 Colby courses across nearly every discipline integrate our collections into their curricula. Meanwhile, our impact extends far beyond the campus gates. Through partnerships with more than 65 Maine schools, we introduce K–12 students to the power of artistic expression. For many of these students, a visit to the Colby Museum is their first encounter with a world-class art collection. Our free programs ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to see themselves—and the world—through the eyes of an artist.

• By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth (opening June 12)
• Imagining an Archipelago: Art from Cuba, Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Their Diasporas (opening July 11)
