For more than 50 years, Colby Rugby has been a cornerstone of the Mayflower Hill experience. Beginning with the founding of the men's team in 1974, this powerhouse program, now with teams for men and women, recently celebrated its half-century anniversary. Today, Colby Rugby is defined by a culture of resilience and a commitment to excellence that extends far beyond the pitch.
Our teams continue to make their mark on the national stage. The men’s team currently holds a 19th-place national ranking in the National Collegiate Rugby D-III Small College division, while the women’s team recently capped a dominant season with a trip to the 15s playoffs in Canton, Mass. This success is built on a foundation of “Colby Grit”—the perseverance and teamwork required to compete at the highest collegiate level.
Rugby is an expensive sport to maintain, and as a club program, we shoulder the costs of everything from coaching and travel to tournament fees and safety equipment. To remain competitive and accessible, we are currently fundraising for:
- Shared Infrastructure: We are looking to purchase a new scrum sled to be shared between the men’s and women’s teams—a vital piece of equipment for safe and effective training.
- Uniforms and Gear: Replacing jerseys and equipment that have sustained years of excessive wear and tear on the pitch.
- Accessibility and Need: Covering registration and tournament fees for players with financial need, ensuring that “rugby for everyone” is a reality, not just a slogan.
- Competitive Travel: Supporting our travel to regional and national tournaments, as well as providing assistance for our athletes who are selected for all-star teams each year.
You are part of our 50-year legacy. By supporting Colby Rugby, you are investing in the next generation of driven, compassionate, and hard-working athletes. Your generosity ensures that our players can focus on the game they love and the teammates they serve.
