Originally founded as the jazz dance club Hipnotik, our organization officially transitioned to a recognized club sports team in 2022. Today, the Colby Dance Team is a dedicated community of experienced dancers from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared passion for high-level performance and student-led choreography. We are a year-round presence on Mayflower Hill, rehearsing four days a week to create professional-grade productions that we proudly share at campus events throughout the year.
We believe that our appearance on stage should reflect the same level of commitment, creativity, and discipline that goes into every rehearsal. Currently, our greatest challenge is ensuring our costumes match the quality of our choreography. Your contribution will primarily help us purchase inclusive, high-quality, and well-fitting costumes for dancers of all sizes. This ensures that every member of our team feels confident and professional while representing Colby, allowing our visual presentation to finally align with our artistic standards.
Beyond the dancers on stage, your support helps us recognize the essential work that happens behind the scenes. We are fundraising to provide fair compensation for our incredible student tech team, whose expertise in lighting and sound is vital to the success of our showcases. These performances are more than just a dance recital; they are a collaborative hub for the arts at Colby. Each semester, we partner with other artistic student organizations to bridge different corners of campus, using the power of performance to unite and inspire the broader Colby community.
